This video is about Dumplings/Momos which is popular in North and North-East India and it is served with spicy red chutney made with tomatoes and red chillies. Momos are a type of South Asian dumplings that are hugely popular throughout the region. Momos are basically dough wrapped around stuffed vegetables or meat. These can be cooked in various ways- but are most commonly steamed.
INGREDIENTS
Momos / Dumplings Maida/All Purpose Flour - 2 Cups Oil – 3 tbps Green Chillies Chopped - 2 Shredded Cabbage - 1 Cup Grated Carrots - ½ Cup Grated Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese) - 1 Cup Salt – As per taste Oil – 1 tbsp Chutney/Sauce Oil – 2 tbsp Garlic - 3 Cloves Kashmiri Red Chillies Whole - 7-8 Tomatoes - 2 Medium Water – 1 Cup Salt - As per taste Red Chilli Powder/Paprika - 1 tsp Vinegar - 2 tbsp Sugar – 1 tbsp Red Chilli Sauce/Paste - 1 tbsp
METHOD
Momos/Dumplings
Take a bowl and add All purpose flour, salt and oil
Gradually add water and knead the dough
Cover it with a damp cloth and set aside for 30 minutes
Heat the oil in a pan
Add Chopped green chillies, Shredded Cabbage, Grated Carrots, Grated Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese), Salt, oil.
Stir continuously and sauté it for 2 minutes
Put it in a bowl and set aside
Removed the cloth and knead the dough again
Make a ball of each slice, cover the other pieces to keep them moist
Roll out the dough into a thin small circle using a lightly dusted rolling pin
Scoop 2 tbps of filling and put it into the center of the dough
Close the Dumpling/Momos
Boil the water, grease the steamer pan before putting the Dumplings/Momos
Cover the steamer and steam for 10 minutes
Momo’s Sauce
Heat the oil in a pan
Add Garlic Cloves, Garlic Cloves, Tomatoes stir for some time and add water
Cover the pan and cool the tomatoes till it get mushy and soft
Add Salt, Red Chilli Powder/Paprika, Red Chilli Sauce/Paste, Vinegar, sugar and stir occasionally
Let the mixture cool before blending
Take out the Dumpling / Momos and serve hot!!
